National Bikers Rounup…Campground Space At The Midway Expo

I’ve been asked if there were other campgrounds available during the time of the National Bikers Roundup. I have an answer for those who wanted to know.

The Midway Expo still has RV spots available. They are located 10 miles from the Boone County Fairgrounds (Roundup) in Columbia, Missouri. On site facilities include: hot showers, 24 hour restaurant / gas station / convenience store.

So if you have RV’s and need spots contact the Midway Expo for further information on how to secure your spot.

Goldie Sowers or Just Goldie…Thanks Cliff Vaughs, Doc & Boss Mike

RealHog.com your resource for Harley Davidson Parts and Accessories

I’ve been rather busy these days and haven’t posted an article lately. Well I was going through my emails and I wanted to share with all of you an email that I received. The email was from Mr. Cliff Vaughs. He has been a great inspiration too me. He has encouraged me to continue chronicling our rich history as Black Bikers and also our contributions to the sport of motorcycling. Below is the email that he sent expressing his appreciation in what he inspired me to do.

This is the first email I received when I wrote the article on Cliff Vaughs.

My goodness Goldie…how did you do it ? How did you find that material ?

Please advise on how I can download directly or access readily.

I’d like to send the “Who is Cliff Vaughs”: first of all to myself and then to my kids and all my old friends. It’s just remarkable. Especially since I’ve been lately contacted by documentarians about my role in “Easy Rider” .I’d like “D” Stevens to see it too.

Well….thank you very much. Honey, you’ve done me a real service.

Miss Sowers lives in Atlanta.

I have been encouraging her to develop her skills as a historian for the “biker” phenomena.

She has done well and would certainly welcome you as a sort of kindred spirit. The link has the “Who is Cliff Vaughs” references.

This email tells me I ‘m doing the right thing and I thank Cliff Vaughs, Boss Mike, “Doc” Hollywood and others for holding my hand, guiding me through this process and encouraging me to continue writing about bikers and motorcycle clubs.

HBO Special, The Lazarus Effect…Bikers we take so much for granted

You are either affected or infected with HIV/AIDS

As I watched this short documentary it moved me to tears. My tears weren’t completely from empathy for my people who are suffering with AIDS/HIV; It was from guilt. My guilt was from bitching, complaining, feeling sorry for myself when things don’t go my way over the most simplest thing.

I encourage all bikers; I don’t care what color you are, to become more conscious of what’s happening around the world with those who are suffering the most. Be grateful for the little things in life because there are several million in Africa that would trade places with you any day.

This is a subject that we never address in the motorcycle community. With all of the sex, drugs and rock n’ roll that bikers partake in. The topic of AIDS/HIV is never discussed or mentioned. I honestly believe there are bikers that are heterosexual who have tested positive but won’t talk about it or even inform others to prevent the spread of the virus in our community.

THE LAZARUS EFFECT follows the story of people in Africa with HIV/AIDS who go from near death to health in as few as 40 days if they gain access to the 2 lifesaving pills that cost around 40 cents a day.

Take 35 minutes of your time to watch this and I hope that this video moves you to act in a more sensitive way to your fellow man. We are truly blessed. Let’s band together and contribute to help save a life of someone who you may never meet. They need us!
