El Pitts a Black Biker first and a perfected Black Chopper builder second

One of my viewers asked a question, “Whatever happened to El Pitts?” I have the answer…alive and well still in Las Vegas, Nevada. For those of you who don’t know who he is I will educate you. El Pitts is an African American custom chopper builder, was raised in Las Vegas and he has always had a love for cars and bikes; actually anything that moved on wheels.

His beginning was with Hot Rods, Muscle Cars and Low Riders. El was rather new at building bikes around 2000. He got into riding with his brother and loved it. So he took his brother’s bike and used it as his guinea pig; by then he started learning the tricks of the trade from Barry at Westside Choppers. El eventually felt confident enough to try his hand at building his own bikes. He hasn’t looked back since.

He appears to be a very humble man who treats everyone with respect when they come to his shop. The wonderful thing about him is that he is aware he has something to contribute to custom choppers and it shows through the creativity he puts into his work.

The bikes he builds are all different. You never see the same concept on another customer’s bike. Where some bike builders don’t service your bike after they’ve completed the project, this isn’t the case with El. He services all of the bikes that he builds. He believes in customer service and that’s another reason he’s been successful.

What blew me away was his concept when he opened his business. He wanted to build bikes that the average Joe could afford and bikes for someone who had some serious loot to drop too. His shop is within walking distance of the Las Vegas Strip and he invites you to drop by and check him out.

His shop use to be called Vegas City Choppers and now it is called Big Homies Fab Shop and it still is located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Unfortunately he doesn’t have a website.

When you look at the pictures you will see how El strives to be unique. He is known for his signature leatherwork whether it’s on the seat, grips, or even a sporadic gas tank. They don’t short you on the details. He accomplishes his signature leatherwork by using different hides and designs.

In 2002 the Discovery Channel called El Pitts for a Biker Build-Off project. It was El Pitts vs. Harold Ponterelli. Monday, September 11, 2006 the episode aired. You have to buy the video to find out who won. (lol)
